Local / Regional Missions
“Truly, I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.”(Matthew 25:40) At Montrose Zion, we are involved in the Akron area and beyond. We believe that God uses our missional experiences to shape us, to change our hearts, and to grow and mature our faith. We learn that being involved in missions is not merely to make us feel good about ourselves, but to serve as Jesus did…without hesitation and with a loving heart for those we touch.
OPEN-M:
OPEN-M offers a variety of services in the Akron community. MZ periodically helps to serve a hot lunch, and collects food items for distribution in the community.

Knitting Ministry:
We provide shawls and lap robes as tangible representations of prayer for members of the church family who are ill or grieving. We also provide hats and scarves to various groups in the area to keep children and adults warm through the winter.

Akron-Canton Food Bank:
In addition to sending one of our Connection Groups to serve once a month, we periodically send donations or host special event fundraisers that directly benefit the Food Bank. In December of 2025, a holiday themed concert “We Need a Little Christmas” brought together student musicians and local professionals for a night of piano-centric fun, and raised over $2,400 for the Food Bank.

South Street Ministries:
A ministry located in Akron’s Summit Lake neighborhood, South Street Ministries focuses on restoration in community, leading several re-entry programs and outreach initiatives to some of our most vulnerable neighbors. We have participated in bike drives, on-site serving, and regular in-kind and monetary donations.
