Roots (Montrose Zion Youth Group)

Roots provides many opportunities for our Youth to meet for Christian education and for lots of fun and fellowship.

Sunday Mornings 9:45–11:00 am

We meet in the youth room. Roots is an interactive youth experience for grades 6-12. The youth meet at 9:45 for donuts and hanging out with friends. The youth group starts at 10:00 with the entire group together for a bit of fun and announcements. The topic for the day is introduced and then the youth split up into small groups to discuss the topic. These groups are lead by adult leaders. If you are a youth, be ready for an interactive faith building time every Sunday morning.

Our Current Study: "re:form"

“re:form” is a fully customizable curriculum interactive DVD series that’s rooted in historic Christianity, but speaks to kids on their level. re:form empowers youth to discover for themselves what they believe. The DVDs include 40 hilarious animated short films that frame the tough theological questions that kids really ask, like “Who wrote the Bible?” and “Why does God let bad things happen?” Contact: Steve 330.665.9817

Upcoming Events

Once a month the youth get together for Invite Events. These events can range from an overnighter to going on a bike ride together. Whatever the event, the intent is to build relationships with each other as well as for the leaders to get to know the students better.

Kalahari Winter Retreat: $129 and permission slip due January 8 - When: February 3-5 - The Kalahari Winter Retreat has the excitement of a large group atmosphere, challenging sessions with national speakers and a praise band. We will be departing from the church at 4pm and will return at 3pm on Sunday. For more info check out: www.kalahariretreat.com. If you have an issue with payment please contact Steve Nuzzo. Senior High Mission Trip to Chicago: July 22-28. $100 deposit is due January 22.

Recent Invite Events

The youth had a great trip to Kalahari with several youth accepting Christ and many making a re-commitment!

The youth recently went bowling! It was a great time!

Service Events

The youth are involved in service every other month. One month we served with a local ministry called Urban Vision. The intent of these small service trips is to show the love of God to those in need. The youth also go on a summer mission trip every year for one week. This trip is a week dedicated to service in a city away from home.
